I have very fond memories

2 minute read

In January Lavender Hills welcomed Ian, but he’s quite familiar with the home. Just over a decade ago his mother, Molly, was a resident.

Molly was a well-loved resident, a larger-than-life character who even celebrated her 100th birthday at Lavender Hills. A birthday so special that the local Mayor attended!

Originally from Ramsbottom, Ian said:

“She was quite happy here, so that went in the home’s favour. I came when my mother was here and saw the place, so I was well acquainted with it but compared to the other homes this is one of the nicest.

“I have very fond memories, there’s lots of ladies that I don’t recognise but Jeannie I remember.”

“She was a lovely lady, a real character. I can still remember some of the stories she’d tell me!

“Molly was the life and soul if something was going on in the home, she’d be in the thick of it. You wouldn’t have believed she was more than 100. I’m hopeful that Ian will enjoy his time with us.”

Jeannie Kettle, Financial Controller

Molly’s room used to be at the front of the home with views spanning across the Rossendale Valley and that’s where Ian’s set his site:

“I’m looking to move into one of the rooms on the front, anywhere on the front!”

On his first month at the home, he said:

“They’re all treating me nicely and it’s been very pleasant.”
