Autumn has arrived at Standish Care Village, and we think it might be the loveliest time of year to be here. The leaves are turning amber, the mornings are crisp, and the whole village feels cosy. The whole village is coming together to enjoy the Halloween and Festive season, and we just can’t wait for our residents and members of the public to enjoy it!
Standish Care Village sits within 9 acres of beautiful woodland, and right now it looks stunning. Set in these natural surroundings, autumn leaves cover the paths, low sunlight filters through the trees, and you can smell the pumpkin spiced brews that The Village Bean is whipping up. Stepping outside at Standish Care Village at this time of year really does fill you with joy.
For people living with dementia, time in nature can make a real difference. The sights, sounds and smells of the changing seasons are familiar and comforting, and they often spark memories and conversation. A walk among the trees can ease restlessness and anxiety, and natural daylight helps support sleep and routine.
The same goes for people with mobility issues. It might not be a long walk that these residents embark on, however just sitting in the fresh air, getting wrapped up warm and just being surrounded by natural wildlife and trees can boost their mood significantly, Gentle movement, a change of scenery and a little sunshine all adds up.
It’s one of the things we love most about Standish Care Village. The outdoors is part of everyday life here, not an occasional treat.
Few things say autumn like a Pumpkin Spiced Latte, and you’ll find them at The Village Bean Horsebox Cafe, right in the middle of the village. Our residents and their family members who come to visit have been making the most of it.
We love the idea of the entire village coming together. Residents from all three of our homes at Standish Care Village come together, making The Village Bean café a really important meeting hub. Families catch up, neighbours say hello, and an ordinary morning turns into something special. For a person living with dementia, a warm drink and no pressure can be a lovely way to spend time with the people they love.
If you’re a family member, we’d love to see you. Pop in, grab a latte and enjoy the autumn atmosphere in the centre of the village.
We’re planning a Halloween event on Sunday 24th, and we’d love residents, families and friends to join the fun. There will also be plenty of other games and events across the village this festive season, so there’s always something to look forward to.
At Standish Care Village, we believe good care means a good life, and that includes fresh air, woodland, friendship and a really good cup of coffee.
If you’d like to see the village in its autumn colours, or talk about how we support people living with dementia, we’d be delighted to show you around.
