Who says a care home is just for the residents?

Millennium Care Homes aren’t just for our residents; we see things differently. Our homes are more than just a residence; they’re a community that brings together different walks of life in communal settings, bringing out the best in everyone.

Staff make residents’ families and friends feel comfortable, using first names and helping themselves to brews and biscuits. Doors are always open and that extends to volunteers, community groups, organisations, nurseries and schools!

Our volunteers bring energy, kindness, and fresh perspectives. Whether they’re students gaining hands-on experience in care, local residents lending their time, or retirees sharing their skills, each volunteer becomes part of the extended family. The important thing is that they feel comfortable, and the benefits are two-way.

One volunteer, the granddaughter of a resident at the newly opened advanced nursing and dementia care home Langtree, is a trained Physiotherapist and has been delivering regular movement exercises for her grandmother and the other residents at the home. 

It’s a mutually rewarding experience — they gain valuable insight and purpose, while our residents benefit from new connections and companionship.

It’s not just residents and families who benefit from this sense of community — our staff do too. We believe that a positive, supportive working environment is essential for great care. When staff enjoy coming to work, feel valued, and have space to grow, that happiness and energy radiate throughout the home. It’s what turns care into a genuine connection.
