Lights, camera, photoshoot!

Wayne Myers, local photographer, and husband to Sabrina a Carer at Lavender Hills Care Home, donated his time and skills to capture some amazing portraits of the home’s residents.

Sabrina would often share stories about the residents with Wayne after a hard day at work and it’s her pride which piqued the photographer’s interest, especially after hearing about the potential benefits of personalised portraits on residents’ room doors which aid in identification.

And just like that Wayne set up shop at the home. But the family connection doesn’t stop there. Jackie the home’s hairdresser, and Wayne’s sister, came in especially to make sure everyone looked their best for the special portraits.

“It was a great experience. Given my creative inclination, I perceived this as a wonderful opportunity not only to craft engaging portraits but also to contribute meaningfully to the residents and their families.

“The day unfolded seamlessly. Supported by Sabrina who skilfully assisted in settling the residents, we engaged in conversations that delved into their life stories, passion, and cherished memories. This, in turn, elicited genuine smiles, allowing me to capture them perfectly.

“The experience of those interactions was undeniably heartwarming, and I felt privileged to offer something back to the community.”

Wayne Myers, Photographer

“It was such a lovely gesture for our residents, and everyone looked to be having a fantastic time! Wayne has sent over the portraits which look great, we can’t wait to share them with the families!”
