Hi, I’m Sabrina, the Lifestyle & Enrichment Coordinator here at Langtree Care Home, part of the beautiful Standish Care Village.
After spending several years at Lavender Hills Care Home in Ramsbottom, a place known for its vibrant activities programme, I’ve recently made the move to Langtree, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring that same energy and creativity (with a few personal touches along the way!).
Right now, we’re gently welcoming residents, getting to know their personalities, interests, and routines. It’s a special time, one where we can build meaningful connections and tailor our approach to help everyone feel at home, enabling them to age with vibrancy.
I’m used to a full house and a packed schedule of group and one-to-one sessions. So, with a bit more breathing space in these early weeks, I’m making the most of the time and turning my attention to something I’m really passionate about, our garden.
The outdoor space here is incredible. It’s peaceful, expansive, and surrounded by nature. But I want to do more than admire it. I want to bring it to life and make it an interactive, evolving part of daily life.
We’ve already started planning how the garden can be practical, beautiful, and beneficial for all. The home’s been a construction site for so long, and we’ve noticed the local wildlife hasn’t quite returned, so we’re doing something about it. Bird boxes have been installed around the home, and we’ll be adding more to the trees soon to help bring back that natural soundtrack.
We’re also focusing on multi-sensory planting, incorporating wildflowers, herbs, and tactile greenery, things to touch, smell, and interact with. The garden itself will become a therapeutic and creative activity, and a source of joy and wellbeing for our residents.
Millennium Care is proud to be a front runner in intergenerational care, working closely with Intergenerational England for a prolonged period, and we’re embedding that ethos into Langtree from the very start. We’re planning to install a beautiful play area and climbing frame to create opportunities for loved ones to play safely alongside our residents and to welcome baby and toddler groups into the home for shared moments of joy.
Another exciting development is our collaboration with our fantastic Head Chef, Glen. Together, we’re planning accessible raised beds and planters that not only offer meaningful engagement for residents but also support Langtree’s focus on nutrition-led dining. Think fresh herbs, seasonal vegetables, and homegrown ingredients feeding directly into our meals, a full-circle approach to wellness that also falls in line with Millennium’s B Corp accreditation.
And we’re not stopping there… We’ll soon be transforming our balconies into elevated gardens, ensuring that every corner of Langtree is enriched with greenery, nature and colour.
There’s a lot to look forward to as Langtree continues to grow, in every sense. I can’t wait to share more updates with you as we build something really special together.
