Welcome to our ‘What’s Nearby’ series. In this series, we’ll be showcasing the local hotspots and landmarks that residents at each of our homes like to visit.
While having a safe and homely environment is important at Millennium Care, we never want residents to feel confined indoors. That’s why our homes organise plenty of regular trips throughout the year, both near and far. Each home is fortunate to be surrounded by incredible destinations just waiting to be explored.
At Worthington Lake Care Home, Millennium Care’s dementia residential home at the Standish Care Village, residents benefit from the home’s proximity to Worthington Lakes, a series of three reservoirs offering a scenic walking destination. The home’s Activities Coordinator curates a calendar of activities and trips personalised by each resident’s individual interests, and with access to the Village’s minibus, no adventure is unrealistic.
The Standish Care Village itself is a unique setting on the outskirts of Wigan, which supports the whole of North West England. Consisting of Worthington Lake Care Home, Lakeside Care Home and Langtree Care Home, the three homes cater for residential, respite, dementia, nursing and dementia nursing care. The Village will soon welcome The Nest, a forestry-led nursery which will support the community and provide authentic and consistent intergenerational activities for residents of the Care Village and future nursery children.
