Care home comes together for career's wedding

3 minute read

Sarah, Carer at Lavender Hills Care Home was given an extra special send-off as residents and staff celebrated her wedding.

The team enjoyed the chance to honour Sarah’s big day and nothing says ‘Hen Do’ like an afternoon of party games, prosecco and making a toilet paper wedding dress!

Sarah’s father, John, is a resident at Lavender Hills and despite his best efforts was unable to sneak into the Hen party however he did get to walk his daughter down the aisle.

Sarah and John’s family asked Lavender’s Home Manager, Stacey, to escort John to the wedding to ensure that John had help on hand should he need it. Stacey happily obliged but the unexpected snowfall on the day meant that all staff were on standby to help complete the mission.

It kept getting better for Sarah as she and her new husband, Jake, jetted off to Antigua for their honeymoon!

“It was a mental day because of the snow. Our Carers, Rhiannon and Lottie, worked hard to clear the drive whilst Melissa, helped john get ready then I got stuck in Burnley so my husband had to come and collect John and get him to the wedding venue! We got there on time though and that was the main thing.

“It was so important for us that Sarah had a great hen do and her father, John, was able to be part of the proceedings. It was perfect for the home to be part of such a special occasion and we are all really grateful.”

Home Manager, Stacey

“It was great having the Hen Do at Lavender. I tried to sneak in, but they would not let me, I was banned! It was great that I got to go to the wedding though, I was so happy.

“It was a brilliant wedding, plenty of drink! I had a tear in my eye, I got over it and it was a very proud moment for me."
