Last week, temperatures across the North West soared to 32 degrees — and while most of us were reaching for a cold drink and finding shade, our amazing teams across Millennium Care were doing what they do best: putting residents first, no matter the conditions.
Working in a care home during a heatwave is no small feat. Layers of PPE, busy corridors, and the physical demands of care don't pause because the sun is shining — and our staff rose to every challenge with the dedication and warmth (pun intended!) that defines the Millennium Care family.
To say a heartfelt thank you, we launched our Heatwave Heroes initiative — because we firmly believe that when our staff feel valued and supported, our residents receive the very best care. Happy, appreciated teams make for happier homes.
As a special token of our appreciation, we arranged for the Northwest Whippy Ice Cream truck to visit the Standish Care Village and Norley Care Home — bringing a welcome, cool moment of joy for both staff and residents alike. There's something universally wonderful about an ice cream on a hot summer's day, and the smiles said it all.
But the fun didn't stop there. Staff across all of our care homes were entered into a prize draw to win a £25 voucher, with one lucky winner at each home. In a lovely touch of community spirit, it was the residents themselves who drew the winning names — a reminder that at Millennium Care, staff and residents truly are in this together.
Congratulations to all our winners, and a huge thank you to every single member of staff across the Group who worked so hard through one of the hottest weeks of the year.
