Rita Cheetham, resident at Lakeside Care Home was pampered in preparation to celebrate her grandson’s wedding.

The team at Lakeside went above and beyond to make sure that Rita had the most memorable day.

Extra carers were organised to cover the shift to accompany Rita to the wedding and provide her with company on that special day while the home’s in-house Hairdresser, Lindsey, made Rita feel glamourous.

Rita, with the help of the team, tried on several outfits to find that perfect look for a big occasion. Taxis were covered by the home to make the whole day run smoothly, letting Rita enjoy every moment.

Person-centred care is recognised as a crucial aspect of delivering high-quality care that not only addresses medical needs but also promotes a person's overall well-being and satisfaction with their care experience.

“We must prioritise encouraging opportunities for our residents. Despite being a resident at Lakeside, people should still be able to participate in events and activities they used to do prior to moving here, so we are glad to assist in making Rita and her family happy and fulfilled by supporting her grandson's wedding.”

Gail Howard, Home Manager

During the wedding ceremony, Rita took the opportunity to deliver a special speech dedicated to her grandson, a moment that filled the entire family with pride.

“I loved everything about the day. From getting ready, choosing an outfit, and being looked after by the best carers, I couldn’t have asked for more.

“Everyone went the extra mile to make the day special and it filled my heart with joy; I couldn’t be more thankful.”
