At Millennium Care, we believe that a dementia diagnosis should never define a person’s life. Our approach to dementia care is centred around helping people continue to live meaningful, fulfilling and connected lives in environments that feel safe, familiar and truly homely. Nowhere is this more evident than at Standish Care Village, where our purpose-built care homes, specialist teams and innovative care models work together to provide outstanding support for people living with dementia.
At the heart of the village are Langtree Care Home and Worthington Lake Care Home, two specialist environments that reflect our commitment to delivering progressive, person-centred dementia care. Together, these homes form part of our wider vision for Standish Care Village, creating a place where residents can access the right support at every stage of their journey while remaining part of one welcoming community.
From the beginning, our aim at Standish Care Village was to move away from traditional institutional care and instead create environments that genuinely feel like home. We know that surroundings can have a significant impact on the wellbeing of people living with dementia, which is why both Langtree and Worthington Lake have been carefully designed to promote comfort, familiarity and independence.
A key part of our approach is the Household Model of Care, which is implemented throughout our homes. Rather than long corridors and clinical environments, residents live in smaller, close-knit households with open-plan kitchens, dining areas and lounges at the centre of daily life. These spaces encourage social interaction, routine and participation in everyday activities, helping residents maintain independence and a sense of purpose.
Worthington Lake Care Home was specifically designed as a specialist dementia care environment and has become recognised for its innovative approach to supporting residents living with dementia. Situated beside the peaceful Worthington Lake, the home combines calming interiors, natural light and easy access to outdoor spaces that help create a relaxing and therapeutic atmosphere.
We understand how important familiarity is for people living with dementia, which is why residents at Worthington Lake are encouraged to personalise their bedrooms with treasured belongings, photographs and furniture from home. Whether someone enjoys gardening, baking, music, arts and crafts or simply socialising with others, our team works hard to create meaningful opportunities that reflect each resident’s interests and life experiences.
Langtree Care Home represents the next evolution of our dementia care philosophy. Purpose-built to deliver specialist dementia and nursing care, Langtree has been designed around evidence-based dementia care principles that support orientation, independence and wellbeing. Every detail of the home, from the use of natural colours and lighting to the layout of communal areas, has been carefully considered to reduce confusion and create a calm, welcoming environment.
One of the most unique aspects of Langtree is its beautiful setting within a nine-acre countryside estate. We strongly believe in the positive impact that nature and outdoor living can have on wellbeing, particularly for people living with dementia. Residents can enjoy safe access to outdoor spaces, woodland walks and lakeside views, encouraging movement, relaxation and sensory stimulation throughout the year.
However, while the environment is incredibly important, we know that exceptional people ultimately deliver exceptional dementia care. Across Standish Care Village, our teams receive specialist dementia training that enables them to provide compassionate, relationship-led care tailored to every individual. We take time to understand each resident’s story, preferences, routines and personality so that care feels personal, respectful and empowering.
Our multidisciplinary approach also plays a key role in enriching daily life for residents. At Langtree, residents benefit from support from Lifestyle & Enrichment Coordinators, occupational therapists, music specialists and fitness professionals who help create tailored experiences that support physical, emotional and cognitive wellbeing. From music therapy and exercise sessions to reminiscence activities and intergenerational experiences, every activity is designed with purpose and meaning.
At Millennium Care, we are passionate about changing perceptions of dementia care. Through innovative design, specialist expertise and compassionate support, we are creating environments where people living with dementia can continue to thrive, maintain independence and enjoy a high quality of life.
Standish Care Village, together with Langtree Care Home and Worthington Lake Care Home, reflects our commitment to delivering dementia care that is not only clinically excellent, but deeply human, centred on dignity, connection and living well every single day.
