Care home residents get special invitation

3 minute read

One of our staff members shared the love by gifting a handful of wedding invitations to residents of Worthington Lake Care Home.

Leanne Lyon, a House Assistant, celebrated her big day with Husband Craig on Saturday, the 9th of May and was joined by three of the home’s residents, Jean, Renee and Mary.

Worthington Lake specialises in dementia care and is part of the Standish Care Village.

Led by the home’s Activity Coordinator, Mel Hart, the residents attended the couple’s service at Ince Parish Church and were blown away by what was an emotional day.

“We were delighted to be invited; we’re very close to Leanne, so to be part of her service was absolutely lovely.

“The church was perfect, the weather was brilliant, and we had a great time getting dressed up and celebrating with the beautiful couple.”

Renee Kerr, resident at Worthington Lake

“I’ve worked at Worthington Lake since October. I love my job and making a difference to people’s days. Whether it be how they wake up or how they go to bed. I look at my residents like family, and I think it’s important that you build relationships with them.

“I wanted to include them as I think it’s good for their mental wellbeing to be out and about when they can, so I thought I’d invite them!

“It meant the world to me that Mel and the residents came and enjoyed themselves, and we made a difference to their day.”

Leanne, the home’s newlywed
