Millennium Care launched the Good Samaritan Fund early this year with an aim to support staff members in times of unexpected hardship.
After providing a lifeline for a handful of employees across the group, the latest person to benefit from the scheme was Brian, the Maintenance Man at Lakeside Care Home.
Unfortunately, Brian’s car needed its clutch and head gasket repairing due to wear and tear, something he was unprepared for.
With the car being his only way to work it was vital he was on the road as quickly as possible.

“It was a nice surprise, I felt so relieved. It was a massive weight off my shoulders.”
“Obviously with the cost of living going up, I had to debate getting a part-time job to save money to repair my car, but with having a responsibility to my kids, I would have really struggled to repair my car whilst supporting my family as my wages go towards bills.
“Without a public transport link to work, I’ve had difficulty getting to and from work, unless my colleagues were generous enough to offer me a lift which has been very much appreciated.
“I think the Good Samaritan Fund is great and it’s made a huge difference to me. It doesn’t sound like a lot to some people, but it’s made a world of difference to me having support to repair my car.
“I wasn’t even aware Millennium had this fund; it was the first I’d heard of it and I’m so grateful for it. I feel like this will make a massive difference to others just like it had to me.”

“As a company we want our staff to feel valued and supported. We also understand that life throws up some unexpected challenges and we want our employees to know they can come to us with any problems.
“We’ll work with staff and Home Managers on a case-by-case basis. The Good Samaritan Fund isn’t limited, it could be an unexpected vet bill, a broken boiler or a medical emergency.”
