A magical Christmas at Lavender Hills

3 minute read

We’re well and truly in the festive season at Lavender Hills Care Home, which was celebrated in style with a heartwarming Christmas party bringing joy and laughter to residents and staff alike. Held across two beautifully decorated floors, the event featured a delicious buffet, festive drinks, and an unforgettable performance by Professional Magician Mike Driver.

Residents gathered to enjoy seasonal treats and share the holiday spirit, while Mike moved between floors to ensure everyone experienced the wonder of his magic. His interactive tricks sparked smiles and amazement, creating moments of connection and engagement.

A surprise for the residents, Mike was a brilliant showman as his tricks and acts of sorcery got everyone involved.

“I’ve been doing magic professionally for about 20 years, and in that time, I’ve been in around four care homes. I like it as a means of stimulation and communication. I’m getting on a bit, so it’s nice to give something back, and I hope it adds a bit of value. I was really pleased to see some people over the performance seemed to really get more involved, and it’s lovely when people are like that.”

Mike Driver, Professional Magician

“The magician’s performance varied across each floor, but I feel it went very well. Many residents were able to focus and fully engage with the magician’s act. They followed everything that was happening, enjoyed the atmosphere, and of course appreciated the festive drinks.

“Overall, the magician brought a lovely festive spirit to the home, and each group enjoyed the event in their own way. It was a successful Christmas celebration for our residents.”

Maryam Nourseresht, Activity Coordinator at Lavender Hills

This magical Christmas party is just one example of how Millennium Care creates meaningful experiences for residents, bringing joy, community, and connection during the holiday season.
