The Nest would become a central feature of the Standish Care Village promoting intergenerational engagement and providing exceptional childcare for staff, residents' families and the wider Standish community in a forest school-style approach.
Millennium Care are huge advocates of intergenerational care with all four care homes within the Group working closely with local schools, nurseries and colleges.
Intergenerational activities provide cognitive and physical benefits, help to build communities, reduce isolation and contribute to cultural and knowledge exchange!
The building’s octagonal shape and modular facade are designed to integrate into the village while providing a clear focal point for the community. The design also incorporates features like solar shading and rainwater harvesting to ensure sustainability.
The interior is organised around a central atrium with a triple-height skylight, promoting natural light and openness. Specific areas like the babies' room have direct access to outdoor spaces, and the design prioritises fluid, flexible spaces.
The Nest will provide a space that addresses loneliness, anxiety, and depression among the elderly by creating a sense of community through interaction with the nursery's children significantly benefitting the lives of Millennium Care residents.
Staff members, residents' families and the Standish community will have an ideal care setting for their children.
Children who do not regularly mix with older generations will benefit hugely from regular shared activities.
Thank you for taking an interest in our proposed development which will add an intergeneration nursery to the Standish Care Village. As a transparent, considerate and locally run care provider, your opinions and feedback are vital to us. Please leave your feedback, the form will close on the 26th of September.
