Lakeside donated to local charity

3 minute read

Lakeside donated to The Brick Project, a growing charity that supports people who are homeless, in poverty or facing debt crisis.

Lakeside Care Home aims to do more by giving back to the community.

The Brick Project includes a Crisis Intervention Service and Wigan’s largest Food Bank.

Activity Coordinator, Ash Jennings, and Wellness Coordinator, Jill Silcock, at Lakeside discussed the idea to donate to the Brick Project as part of Random Act of Kindness Day.

“I decided it would be a good idea to ask staff members at Lakeside to donate anything they could for the cause.

“We did a collection and we’re blown away with the amount everyone has chipped in for the local community. Jill and I really love the work The Brick is doing.”

Ash Jennings, Activity Coordinator

“Thank you so much for the food donations and this will really help families and anyone that is struggling financially or in food poverty.”

Emma Shaw, Food Community at The Brick

The home has successfully collected clothes, shoes, blankets, tinned food and toiletries to donate. The focus was on necessities homeless people would need to prioritise.

The home is looking forward to more local, charitable projects, that they can support with their staff and residents.
