Lakeside reins in on Ladies' Day

2 minute read

Lakeside surprised residents with a unique visit from a horse, as staff donned inflatable jockey costumes to celebrate last week’s Ladies’ Day.

As staff made an effort to entertain the residents at Lakeside, the arrival of a staff member’s horse, June, won the hearts of residents as she was escorted around the home to be petted and fed.

“June is extremely fond of attention and enjoys it thoroughly due to her friendly nature. It was a wonderful experience to witness the joy that she brought to our residents.”

Chelsea Hurley, Domestic Assistant and horse owner

“We love going the extra mile for our residents, they deserve the best and what better way to mark Ladies’ Day other than bringing a horse into your own residence?

“The smiles on their faces were priceless. It really helped some of our residents come out of their shells and beam with delight, that’s what it’s all about.”

Gail Howard, Home Manager at Lakeside Care Home

The unexpected guests boosted residents and prepared everyone for Saturday’s Grand National.
