Go on Tour Entertains Lakeside

3 minute read

Go on Tour, an over 65s theatre troupe visited Lakeside Care Home, boasting their wide range of talents with spirited enthusiasm and determination.

Established in 2009, Go on Tour is a volunteer group specialising in variety entertainment, costumed and choreographed songs, dances and lots of fun for every occasion.

“We started this group 14 years ago as we felt that care homes needed entertainment; all of us are volunteers and our age ranges are from 66 – 90 years. We love doing this as it keeps us young!

“It was a lovely day at Lakeside and was wonderful to see the residents engage and interact. The residents really warmed up to us and I think they thoroughly enjoyed it.

“They made us feel welcome and the staff were great, they joined in too!”

Mandy Stableford, Leader of Go on Tours

Having entertainment is important in care homes it provides enjoyment and entertainment; music can help bring together groups of people to interact, or allow residents to quietly reminisce.

“Everyone seemed to enjoy the entertainment and the show. I would say it’s been the best entertainment I’ve seen since I came here almost three years ago.”

Derek, Resident at Lakeside

“I’d heard all about Go on Tours and have tried to book them a few times, but they are always busy as they are that good.

“I’m so glad they came and put on a fantastic show for us here at Lakeside. It was amazing to see the residents engaged throughout the performance with many happy faces.”

Ash Jennings, Activity Coordinator
