We’re looking for a Chef to join our team at Worthington Lake. This is a unique role, preparing meals which facilitates an environment of social interaction and our amazing residents with an engaging mealtime experience

The Chef is responsible for the effective day-to-day management of the catering service at Worthington Lake Care Home. This role ensures the provision of high-quality, nutritious meals that meet the needs and preferences of service users, while maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene, safety, stock control and cost management.

The post holder will also play a key role in leading, motivating and developing the kitchen team, ensuring compliance with all statutory and organisational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Catering & Food Preparation

  • Prepare menus in consultation with service users, taking into account preferences, special diets and nutritional needs
  • Prepare and serve all meals in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and Worthington Lake Care Home standards for food hygiene, storage and temperature control
  • Ensure all catering ingredients and equipment are purchased within budgetary constraints
  • Manage waste effectively
  • Regularly seek feedback from service users and plan changes accordingly

Stock & Equipment Management

  • Order appropriate levels of supplies from specified suppliers in line with Worthington Lake Care Home procedures
  • Maintain strict control over catering costs
  • Operate an efficient stock control system
  • Ensure all equipment is used with care in accordance with supplier instructions and training
  • Ensure all equipment is kept in good working order and report faults immediately
  • Withdraw any unsafe equipment from use without delay

Safeguarding & Communication

  • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of individuals supported by the service
  • Attend regular meetings to stay informed of views, expectations and operational updates
